Workforce Development

The McKinleyville Family Resource Center offers young adults (16 - 24 years old) in our community the chance to join a 12-week cohort, where folks learn about resources available to them, are given opportunities to develop their skills through internships, participate in trainings and resume workshops, and receive supportive services around transportation, clothing, and gathering right to work documents, all while getting paid!

We are looking for 5 participants for our next cohort beginning February 2025. Please fill out our google form, linked below as the Interested Participant Button, and we will contact you regarding initial interviews and enrollment throughout September.

Food
Pantry

At our Choice Food Pantry, we're dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community.

Our Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 3 PM.

Clients can visit once a month, ensuring consistent support.

In partnership with the pantry, our Backpacks for Kids program fights food insecurity for school-aged children over the weekends, providing nutritious meals discreetly. We believe in a stronger, hunger-free community.

Join us in this mission through volunteering or donations and make a meaningful difference in our neighborhood. Together, we can make sure no one goes to bed hungry.

Humboldt Infant-Family & Early Childhood Mental Health

The HIFECMH Certificate Training Program was developed to address the serious gap in the capacity of our systems to address the social and emotional (mental health) needs of our young children and their families. Promotion, prevention and treatment of mental health conditions for young children takes a unique skill set that is not embedded in our educational systems.

Many providers lack the knowledge, skills, and confidence in their capacity to promote social and emotional wellness (mental health) in the population that they serve and can lack the understanding of the critical need to intervene and treat mental health issues in young children. Humboldt County lacks a workforce qualified to address this need.
