MFRC has several ready-to-run projects that are waiting for funding
Guaranteed Income For Older Adults
Estimated project cost: $4,750,000 over 3 years:
-
This project would allow MFRC to provide direct, no strings attached, cash payments to 200 Humboldt County residents between the ages of 60 and 64. MFRC has successfully administered a comparable program that disbursed $2.4 million to 150 people who were pregnant during MFRC’s Humboldt Income Program enrollment window. Steady Steps Benefits Access Pilot
Estimated Project Cost $1,550,000 over 2.5 years
-
Developed through a Community Partner Co-Design in partnership with End Poverty in California and CivicMakers, Steady Steps would allow MFRC to provide cohort-based cash assistance to residents transitioning off of CalWORKs or TANF. Cash support would gradually decline over the participation window to allow for a smoothing of the benefits cliff that families experience when transitioning off of CalWORKs and/or TANF. See this slide deck to learn more or contact rbaker@mckfrc.org with questions.
The $50 Study
Estimated Project cost: $150,000 over 1.5 years
-
Developed in partnership with Building the Roots of Upward Mobility | The Rooted School Foundation, the $50 study would allow MFRC to provide direct cash payments to local high school youth for the 2026-2027 school year. Review the proposal here or email rbaker@mckfrc.org to learn more.
